THE STORY: PARTING is an intimate view of the end of a relationship between Cal (Robbie Cox) and Sara (Jenn Ward). Parting was scribed by Gene Doucette.
BACKSTORY: After an exhaustive search Gene Doucette's Parting made it's way to 386's office. Right from the start the story was intriguing to all involved. An equally exhausting casting process was ended with the outstanding readings of Robbie Cox and Jennifer Ward. The smaller roles were filled by a 386 Films’ favorite Deborah Hurm who was cast as Mama in the group’s first production, Mama’s Boys and new comer James Brodick. With the perfect cast was in place and a location was finally secured the three-day production began.
Parting was shot on location at the Brooklyn Caffe in Port Orange Florida. The production took over the restaurant for three days of filming. The nature of on-location filming was challenged with battling outside elements of noise and pedestrian interruptions. But cast and crew soldiered on working around the reality of small production limitations of controlling an environment..
85% of the film was shot in a two camera set up covering both actors as to allow both actors to naturally react in the scene without interruption. The actors performed through the scenes without break comparable to a stage play. The hours of rehearsing and the incredible preparedness of the actors really shown through in their ability to pick up and repeat the scenes on cue. |
